This multi-award nominee moved to Culver City with his family at the age of nine where he used the back lots of MGM and Desilu as his playgrounds.

Always wanting to be in the film business, Allan made movies with his friends throughout high school and worked on his first professional feature film his first summer after graduating.

After working on some low budget features and working with Bill Burrud Productions as a field producer on travel logs for American Express, Allan went to work in the Hobby Craft field where he worked into an executive position with Western Trimming.  After a couple of years Allan was offered a position with Burman Studios, where he worked and apprenticed in the at of Special Effects Makeup.  Stan Winston was Allan’s next mentor and after two years Allan started his own effects studio, Makeup & Effects Laboratories, Inc. MEL Inc. has been around since 1979 and has grown from 500 square feet to over 10,000.

 Allan has over 100 films and 200 television episodes to his credits and is a member of both the Television Academy as well as the Motion Picture Academy

 Showing that he had a lot of skill in organization and finance, Allan partnered with actor Tom Berenger to produce three films, one feature film, one telefilm and the award winning mini series Rough Riders for TNT

Allan is currently the CEO of MEL, Inc. He is the creator and spokesperson for the Bellezza makeup line for Team in Focus and is currently the personal makeup artist to Samuel L. Jackson.

His most recent film credits with Jackson include the upcoming films Soul Men and The Spirit.  He also served as makeup art for Country of My Skull, filmed in South Africa; Twisted, S.W.A.T., Basic, Formula 51, XXX, Changing Lanes, Unbreakable, Shaft, Rules of Engagement and The Negotiator.

His Department head credits include such films as Dinner for Schmucks, The Losers, Unthinkable, Lakeview Terrace, Jarhead, Knight Rider, The Cleaner, Coach Carter, Three Kings, Mad City, Sphere, Major League II and,  And the Band Played on.

His Television Credits include such shows as Knight Rider, Pushing Daisies, Miami Vice, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Profiler, Allie McBeal, Drew Carey, My Wife & Kids and Deadwood.
